Gippsland Lakes Habitat Restoration

Every new home has materials delivered onsite and that’s exactly what’s happened here at Jones Bay near the mouth of the Nicholson River.

Thanks to your fishing licence fees, the East Gippsland CMA received a grant of $110,000 to deploy all of this timber and more to create new homes for iconic species like black bream, estuary perch, and Australian bass.

This will complement other fish habitat installations by the CMA in recent years, ensuring plenty of places to shelter, feed and breed in the now net-free Gippsland Lakes.
