Go Fishing Victoria phase 3
The State Government is investing $96 million into phase 3 (2022-2026) of its Go Fishing Victoria plan to further improve recreational fishing, boating, piers and aquaculture.
This complements Target 1 Million and phase 2, worth $81m since 2014, which has grown participation to more than one million recreational fishers in Victoria.
Phase 3 will:
- Invest $10m to triple the size of our Arcadia native fish hatchery
- Build new facilities at our Snobs Creek fish hatchery to grow more Macquarie perch and trout cod
- Stronger Fishing Club grants program to attract new members and encourage participation
- Deliver the Little Anglers Program through schools
- Improve 15 jetties and car parks with $22m from the Better Boating Fund
- Upgrade boat ramps and car parks at Lang Lang, Tooradin and Inverloch, and extend the jetty at Cowes boat ramp
- Rebuild piers at Dromana, St Leonards and the Warneet south and north jetties
- Build a new boating facility at Tarago Reservoir
- Further enhance recreational fishing through $5.3m in grants
- Establish a $2.5 fish habitat improvement fund
- Help Fishcare promote sustainable fishing practices
- Free fishing licences for veterans
