Recreational Fisher Cards

Junior and senior fishers have some new gear to boost their fishing passion, with the introduction of free Recreational Fisher Cards.

The cards help to inspire stewardship and a connection to recreational fishing for groups not required to hold a fishing licence.

People under the age of 18, or over 70, are exempt from the need to hold a Recreational Fishing Licence in Victoria.

They will complement the work being done by a range of initiatives as part of the Government’s $35 million plan to get more people fishing, more often.

The cards are free and will feature a new design each year, doubling as a collectable to keep in a wallet or put on display at home alongside a photo of your favourite catch.

The cards will not be funded by the sale of recreational fishing licences, with money from licence sales being put to work improving fishing across Victoria through grant programs, fish production at our Snobs Creek hatchery, better facilities and extra Fisheries Officers.”
