A combined limit of 40 urchins of one or more species, excluding black sea urchin for which there is no limit.

White sea urchins are included in the combined limit of 40.

Black sea urchin means the species Centrostephanus rodgersii from the Echinoidea class.

Note: Black urchins (long spined) are dark brown/black in colour and have spines longer than half of its shell in diameter. White urchins (short spined) vary in colour from purple to green to white and have shorter solid spines. See below for examples, and links to Museums Victoria webpage for more information.

Additional information

Roe and other soft tissues must not be removed from sea urchins in, on or next to Victorian waters.
