Better facilities for Ferntree Gully's Quarry Lake
Your recreational fishing licence fees have funded access improvements at Ferntree Gully’s Quarry Lake, which is being developed into a family-friendly year-round fishery.
Fishers now have new more platforms and a new boardwalk, making it even easier to wet a line with the family for a trout, Murray cod or golden perch.
Knox City Council received a Recreational Fishing Grant of $52,877 in 2018-19 to undertake works at the lake.
The council matched this amount with its own financial contribution toward the improvements.
The platforms provide all-abilities access to fishing at the lake, which has been stocked with a variety of species since mid-2019.
These include catchable-size rainbow trout for the July and September school holidays, stonker rainbow trout, Australian bass, Murray cod and golden perch to create year-round opportunities when wetting a line.
