Vic Fish Kids Program

We are hosting five free events in 2019 to get more children fishing, more often!

They're fun and free, and everything is provided when you sign up for the guided fishing clinic, so youngsters can cast a line and try fishing in a safe and supportive environment.

Fishing personalities Lee Rayner and Rex Hunt are our Vic Fish Kids Ambassadors for the day!

Lee will be lending a hand and sharing his fishing secrets during the fishing clinics, and !

All waters will be stocked prior with catchable size rainbow trout from our Snobs Creek hatchery, and more trout will be released on the day too!

As spots for fishing clinics are limited, you’re encouraged to bring along your own fishing gear including bait as the waters will be stocked prior and on the day too!

Activities

  • Hang out with VicFishKids ambassadors Rex Hunt and Lee Rayner
  • Rex Hunt will be on deck to host a Q&A for all your (and the kids’) burning questions
  • Hear Lee's tips and tricks while enjoying free fishing tuition from VFA staff, Fishcare Victoria and volunteers from local angling clubs
  • Learn to cast, how to tie knots and what to do with a fish when you catch one
  • Bringing your own gear? Head to the marked areas to try your luck for as long as you like (Note: We provide bait for the guided fishing clinics only. If you're bringing your own gear to fish in the marked areas, please keep this in mind)
  • Help our Snobs Creek hatchery staff stock catchable-sized rainbow trout
  • Enjoy kids activities such as colouring in and plaster arts
  • Free photobooth to immortalise that fish of a lifetime
  • Food and drink will be available on-site thanks to local RSL and Lion Club volunteers

Parental supervision is essential.

Participants should bring sturdy footwear, clothing to suit the weather, a hat and sunscreen, and a sense of fun and adventure because they're going to be wonderful days!

It's all part of the State Government's Target One Million plan to grow participation and get one millions anglers by 2020.
