Goulburn Fishing Festival 2024
River trout season will officially open Saturday 7 September, and where better to celebrate than at Eildon!
The Goulburn River (between Eildon and Molesworth) and Eildon Pondage will share in 2000 massive ‘stonker’ rainbow trout weighing 3-4kg, to be stocked at numerous sites and guaranteed to create lifelong memories for lots of fishers and their families.

- Market stalls, spinning prizes and live performances in Lions Park, Eildon
- Kids fishing classes with bait and tackle provided, guided by fishing gurus Lee Rayner and Fishcare. Book a spot here.
- Expert Lee Rayner live on-stage with his fishing tips
- Trout cooking demonstrations with Gary Constantine
- Help our Snobs Creek hatchery team stock the pondage with trout
- Aquaculture hub featuring tastings of locally grown trout
- Plaster arts painting, games run by our education team and face painting
- Enjoy a tour of the Snobs Creek fish hatchery down the road - book a bus and time on the day at Lions Park.
- Try your luck at catching a trophy trout at one or more spots on this year's stonker trout trail along the Goulburn
- Meet and chat to our Fisheries Officers and the Women in Recreational Fishing and Boating (WIRFAB) leaders
- Fireworks over the pondage from 7pm
The 2024 trout and salmonid season in rivers and streams opens Saturday 7 September. Lake Eildon and the Eildon Pondage are open to trout fishing year-round.
