Seal the Loop Program
Victorian Fisheries Authority and Zoos Victoria are working together to protect Victoria's aquatic wildlife by installing Seal the Loop bins across the state.
These dedicated Zoos Victoria Seal the Loop bins provide the public with a way to dispose of unwanted fishing gear, including fishing line, hooks, netting and rope. By preventing discarded gear from entering waterways, the program helps reduce the risk of entanglement and injury to aquatic wildlife.
Seal the Loop bins are monitored and emptied through the amazing voluntary work of local community members (local bin custodians). These custodians also provide Zoos Victoria with important information to help measure the amount of fishing litter collected each year. We encourage you to ask your local council or community group to install a Seal the Loop bin and help save your local aquatic wildlife.
