Seymour Fishing Festival

Families looking for a fun and fishy day in the great outdoors can reel in a new hobby at the Seymour Fishing Festival on Sunday 27 October, at Goulburn Park.

Hosted in partnership with the Mitchell Shire, this FREE event will have something for everyone!

Activities

  • Learn-to-fish VicFishKids sessions for beginners, with rods and bait provided, guided by Women in Recreational Fishing and Boating (WIRFAB) leaders along with volunteers from Fishcare and the Sugarloaf Creek Angling Club. To book a session, go here.
  • Help our Snobs Creek hatchery team stock catchable-size rainbow trout
  • Cooking demonstrations from Chris Carlin, the local Prince of Wales Hotel’s chef, showcasing delicious recipes featuring trout to sample on the day and cook at home for family and friends
  • Fish anatomy explainers from VFA scientists and Fisheries Officers with their education trailer
  • VFA education team with fish-themed activities for the kids
  • Fishing simulator with Knox Boat Fishing Club
  • Live music from the Royal Navy Band
  • Entertainment for kids including face painting, plaster arts, a magician and bubble performer
  • Selfies with VFA’s ‘Rodney the Rainbow Trout’ fish mascot
  • Animal experiences with Snake Safe Victoria including gliders, pythons, crocodiles and dingoes
  • Kelly Sports activities for children to burn off some energy
  • Hot food for sale from a Lions Club barbecue, and a coffee van.
