Golden tag competition POSTPONED
Golden Tag fishing competition suspended until further notice
In light of the recently announced Stage 3 restrictions to manage the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), the Victorian Fisheries Authority’s Golden Tag competition will be postponed until further notice.
The Golden Tag competition was launched on 1 March to support bushfire affected communities. Ten lucky fishers landed themselves $10,000 by catching a tagged fish throughout March, several others were also awarded a $2,000 cash prize.
Any golden tagged fish caught from 2 April onwards will not count towards a $2,000 prize until the restrictions are lifted.
Remember, if you can stay home, you must stay home. Under Stage 3, reasons to leave your house must be limited to buying essential food and supplies, medical care, necessary work and exercise – not driving long distances or being out all day. Gatherings of more than two people is also off-limits.
The Golden Tag competition has been a great success so far, putting bushfire affected communities back on the map. We’re assuring fishers that as soon as it’s deemed safe to travel again, the Golden Tag competition will resume.
