'Catch a Carp' Competition Terms and Conditions
1. The Lake Colac 'Catch a Carp' Competition (Competition) is being conducted by the Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA) ABN 60 297 360 647.
2. All children who are aged 13 and under must be under parent or guardian supervision when fishing in the competition, and winners aged 13 and under must be represented by a parent or guardian for the purposes of claiming and collecting their prize.
3. Employees and contractors of VFA (including their immediate families) are ineligible to enter.
4. The competition commences at 9:00am on Sunday 13 April 2025 and ends at 2:00pm on Sunday 13 April 2025. Only fish caught during the competition period and brought to depositories by 2:20pm on Sunday 13 April 2025 are eligible for prizes.
5. The competition fishing area is limited to Lake Colac and Barongarook Creek between the Lake and Chapel Street.
6. Land-based fishing only, prizes will only be awarded for fish caught within the competition area, using legal recreational fishing equipment and in compliance with current Victorian fishing regulations.
7. A Recreational Fishing Licence (or relevant exemption) remains necessary for competition participants.
8. The largest and second-largest carp will be determined by length.
9. Before awarding a prize, VFA will verify the validity of entries and eligibility of entrants. VFA may refuse to award a prize to anyone reasonably believed to have breached these rules or engaged in unlawful or improper conduct.
10. Winners will be announced at 2:30pm on Sunday 13 April 2025 and notified via their provided contact details. If winners are not present, digital prize options or delivery will be arranged.
11. Any breaches of these rules or improper conduct may result in disqualification.
12. Any carp caught during the kids' fishing clinics within the carp-netted area is eligible for the competition and raffle.
13. Each participant who returns a carp to a depository gets one raffle entry (one entry per person, regardless of the number of carp).
13. All carp caught must be killed ethically and humanely and not returned to the water (in accordance with fisheries regulations).
14. VFA will collect and use entrants’ personal information in conducting the competition in accordance with its Privacy Policy. Winners may have their details published on the VFA website and social media.
