Important info

• Date: Sunday 4 October 2026
• Fish from 8am–1.50pm, land-based or boat
• Weigh-in: 1–2pm at the Bellarine Pirates marquee, located at Portarlington Safe Harbour Foreshore
• Winners announced: 2.15pm
• FREE to enter — registration required before fishing, but you can register on the day

Divisions and categories

Choose between Novice and Experienced divisions in the following categories:

• Male Adult
• Female Adult
• Male Junior (10-16)
• Female Junior (10-16)
• Male Nipper (0-9)
• Female Nipper (0-9)

Registration

You must register prior to fishing. You can register on the day at the Bellarine Pirates marquee (located at the Hooked on Bellarine main event at Portarlington Safe Harbour Foreshore) or pre-register via text or email if you're planning to head out boating.

To pre-register, text or email the following details to Belinda Yim - 0459 887 675 / belinda.yim@vfa.vic.gov.au:

• Your name (or child's name and age if entering Junior/Nipper category on their behalf)
• What division and category you are entering (e.g. Experienced division, Female Adult category)
• If emailing, provide a contact number

Eligible species

• Flathead
• Whiting
• Snapper
• Squid (both calamari and arrow squid)
• Leatherjacket
• Australian salmon
• Garfish

Points system

Prizes

The overall male and female champion for each category with the most points will take home a trophy and voucher from a local tackle store. Trophies are also up for grabs for the heaviest of each species, plus vouchers for five mystery weights!

Every category gets a trophy and a voucher valued at:

• Adults, over 16 years (two winners, male and female): $150 each
• Junior, 10-16 years (two winners, male and female): $100 each
• Nippers, 9 years and under (two winners, male and female): $50
• Mystery weight prizes (five vouchers): $20 each

Rules

A few important rules:

• You must register before fishing — registration is available on the day at the Bellarine Pirates Marquee or via email/text prior to fishing. Email or text Belinda Yim - 0459 887 675 / belinda.yim@vfa.vic.gov.au with your name and the category you will be entering (including age for Junior/Nipper entires).
• Lines down at 8am, lines up at 1.50pm.
• Fish must be fresh, dispatched and as caught - not cleaned, gutted, frozen or otherwise damaged.
• All Victorian fishing laws and regulations apply.
• Only one fish of each species is weighed towards your aggregate bag.
