The path to stocking 10 million fish

A key component of the State Government’s plan to get more people fishing, more often, was to further increase fish stocking to 10 million by 2022.

This involved growing more fish at our Snobs Creek fish hatchery, near Eildon, and buying more fish from private hatcheries here and interstate.

The new native fish hatchery also contributed, but isn't at maximum production capacity yet.

The journey towards 10 million was be staged and our plan included:

These fish will included brown trout, rainbow trout, Chinook salmon, cheetah trout, brook trout, tiger trout along with native species like Murray cod, golden perch, Australian bass, silver perch, estuary perch, Macquarie perch and trout cod.
