The Ballarat Fishing Festival is back and better than ever in 2024! Come join us at Lake Wendouree on Saturday 7 September. It’s a great day out for the whole family and best of all, it’s FREE.

- Help our Snobs Creek hatchery team stock the lake
- Kids fishing classes with bait and tackle provided, guided by Fishcare. Online bookings full.
- Fly fishing lessons for teenagers and adults, guided by the Ballarat Fly FIshers Club. Online bookings full.
- Delicious fish cooking demonstrations from Lillie Giang
- Check out the display of freshwater fishing boats
- Get some tips in the art of fly tying from Ballarat Fly Fishers Club members
- Visit the local Ballarat Trout Hatchery next to the lake
- Chat to our Fisheries Officers and leaders from the Women in Recreational Fishing & Boating network (WIRFAB)
- Prize draws and raffles
- BBQ provided by Lakeside Anglers Club and coffee available from Bean Me Up
The 2024 trout and salmonid season in rivers and streams opens Saturday 7 September. Lake Wendouree is open to trout fishing year-round.
