Go Fishing and Boating Victoria plan

The State Government is investing $96 million into its Go Fishing and Boating Victoria plan to further improve recreational fishing, boating, piers and aquaculture.

This complements the Target One Million and Go Fishing Victoria plans, which have grown participation to more than one million recreational fishers in Victoria.

The new $96 million plan will:

• Deliver the $1.5m Little Anglers Program through schools
• Stronger Fishing Club grants program to attract new members and encourage participation
• Establish a $2.5m fish habitat improvement fund
• Triple the size of our Arcadia native fish hatchery
• Build a new Macquarie Perch Recovery Hatchery at our Snobs Creek fish hatchery
• Improve 15 jetties and car parks with $22m from the Better Boating Fund
• Upgrade boat ramps and car parks at Lang Lang, Tooradin and Inverloch, and extend the jetty at Cowes boat ramp
• Rebuild piers at Dromana, St Leonards and the Warneet south and north jetties
• Build a new boating facility at Tarago Reservoir
• Help Fishcare promote sustainable fishing practices
• Make fishing licences free for veterans
