Rock Lobster Resource Assessment Group
The Rock Lobster and Giant Crab Resource Assessment Group (RLRAG) was established as an expert panel to provide scientific advice on the status of the Victorian rock lobster and giant crab stocks.
The main role of the group is to evaluate the annual stock assessments and provide advice to The Victorian Fisheries Authority during the process of establishing the total allowable commercial catch (TACC).
Other recent work includes:
- The standardisation of rock lobster fishery catch and effort data, and
- The review and revision of the Decision Framework described in the Victorian Rock Lobster Fishery Management Plan.
The membership of the RLRAG consists of fishery scientists, industry representatives from the Eastern and Western Zones, fishery managers, and members from Seafood Industry Victoria (commercial fishing) and VRFish (recreational fishing).
