Draft Fisheries (Gippsland Lakes Black Bream) Notice 2026

Consultation on the draft Fisheries (Gippsland Lakes Black Bream) Notice 2026 is now underway. The draft Notice seeks to maintain the conditions laid out in the 2025 Notice. That is to:

  1. Maintain a bag/possession limit of 7 fish per day in Gippsland Lakes and its tributaries.
  2. Maintain the maximum size limit of 38 centimetres in Gippsland Lakes and its tributaries.

Draft Fisheries (Abalone Data Logging System) Notice 2026

Further improve the data collection through the use of boat-based data loggers and diver activity loggers will increase confidence in stock status, reduce uncertainty in decision making, and support a more responsive approach to quota setting and other management arrangements.
