The Victorian Aquaculture Strategy 2017-2022 (WORD - 4.5 MB) has been developed by the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources in conjunction with the Victorian aquaculture industry.
Our vision for the future of aquaculture in Victoria is:
A productive, growing and sustainable aquaculture industry valued by the community
Victoria will pursue:
- Productive aquaculture farms using sustainable practices
- High quality seafood for Victorians and export
- An aquaculture industry that is supported and valued by the community
- An efficient regulatory environment that supports business
As wild fisheries stocks approach the limits of sustainable seafood supply, the aquaculture industry is playing an increasingly important role in meeting the global demand for seafood products.
This strategy builds on current policy commitments and provides a blueprint to guide public and private sector investment for the industry.
