Safety first to build stronger fishing clubs
14 July 2017
Sonya Kilkenny MP today presented the Mornington Peninsula Fly Fishers club with a new defibrillator and first aid training as part of the new Defibrillators for Fishing Clubs program.
Defibrillators are an important piece of emergency equipment that can significantly improve survival rates from a sudden cardiac arrest and are a vital resource in developing safe and resilient communities.
As a part of the Stronger Fishing Club grants program the defibrillator grants provide eligible angling clubs with an opportunity to acquire an automated external defibrillator to help ensure their club members are equipped with top safety gear in an emergency.
The program is a key part of the State Government's Target One Million election commitment, aiming to get more people fishing, more often.
Recreational fishing clubs in Victoria are encouraged to apply for the grants before the 15 September.
