Notice of Intention to Declare the Pinnace Channel Aquaculture Fisheries Reserve Management Plan

The Minister for Agriculture, Bob Cameron today announced his intention to declare the Pinnace Channel Aquaculture Fisheries Reserve Management Plan in releasing the Draft Plan for public comment.

The Management Plan is being developed in accord with Part 3 of the Fisheries Act 1995.  Section 32(1)(b) of the Act requires the Minister to publish a notice of intention to declare a fisheries reserve management plan at least 60 days before the declaration is made. 

The Management Plan is being developed through a Steering Committee made up of key stakeholder group representatives, and will provide management direction for the Pinnace Channel Aquaculture Fisheries Reserve for the next three years. The planning process is overseen by the Fisheries Co-Management Council. 

A copy of the Draft Plan can be obtained from the Department of Environment and Primary Industries (DEPI) website www.depi.vic.gov.au/fishing or by contacting the DEPI Customer Service Centre on 136 186.

Submissions are to be in writing and should be sent by 5.00 pm, 3 October 2003 to Peter Appleford, Department of Environment and Primary Industries as follows:
