Victorian fishing clubs hook funding boost
02 October 2026
Angling clubs will be upgrading facilities, growing membership and expanding community programs thanks to the Victorian Government.
Minister for Ports and Freight Melissa Horne announced 38 fishing clubs and associations will share in nearly $300,000 in grants awarded from the Stronger Fishing Club Grants program.
Nearly $1.2 million has been invested into 138 clubs and associations, with the first two rounds delivering a combined $900,000 in funding to 100 clubs and associations.
The grants are funded by recreational fishing licence fees, as part of the Victorian Government’s $96 million Go Fishing and Boating plan.
Grants of up to $10,000 were available to help increase club membership and promote participation in recreational fishing – including boat refurbishments, fishing gear, signage, IT equipment and club room repairs.
The grant recipients include:
- Williamstown and Newport Anglers' Club & FPS
- Dederang and District Angling Club
- King River and District Fishing Club
- Leongatha Angling
- Mordialloc Motor Yacht Club
- Bass Strait Game Fishing Club
- Portland Sport Fishing Club
