The Victorian Government on behalf of the Australian Commonwealth Government, is managing the Recreational Fishing and Camping Facilities Program. The program is designed to support local government with grant funding to deliver new or renewed infrastructure directly related to recreational fishing, boating and camping.

The Recreational Fishing and Camping Facilities Grant Program is currently closed and will reopen for applications in the 2021-22 financial year.

Who provides advice on what may be funded?

The Victorian Fisheries Authority are delivering the program on behalf of the Victorian Government. For further information on what can and cannot be funded, read the Recreational Fishing and Camping Facilities Program Terms and Conditions. (PDF - 613.7 KB)

Funding is available for:

  • Boat Ramps;
  • Fishing Pontoons;
  • Fish Cleaning Stations;
  • Camping Facilities;
  • Toilet Blocks;
  • Marine Rescue Facilities; and
  • other infrastructure or facilities directly associated with recreational fishing, boating or camping.

Applications are evaluated according to the benefits they provide to the recreational fishing, camping and boating public, therefore funding is not available for the following types of projects:

  • private facilities or facilities associated with private clubs;
  • Facilities solely for commercial vessels;
  • Maintenance dredging;
  • General maintenance or operational costs;
  • Projects that have already commenced construction.
