Come 'N' Try Beach Fishing

Yet to give beach fishing a go? Well now's your chance!

The VFA is offering free Come 'N' Try Beach Fishing days for kids, so grab the whole gang and give it a go!

Beaches on our southern coastline and those in the more protected waters of our bays and inlets are great places to introduce children to the joys of fishing. These locations are easily accessed and are productive places to wet a line with family and friends.

When: Sunday 20 October (Gone Fishing Day)

Where: Anderson Inlet Angling Club, The Esplanade, Inverloch

Time: 9:30am - 2pm

What to expect

The two free events will teach newcomers the basics of beach fishing, including:

  • How to fish safely at the beach
  • The best way to rig up your rod
  • What bait to use
  • What species you can catch along Victoria's beaches
  • How to read the water
  • Where to go fishing along Victoria's coastline
  • How to collect bait for beach fishing

Parental supervision is essential and participants should bring sturdy footwear, clothing to suit the weather, a hat and sunscreen, and a sense of adventure because they’re going to be wonderful days!

With spring upon us and summer fast approaching, these come and try fishing days are a great way to help youngsters catch a new hobby for the holidays!

This event is part of the State Government’s Target One Million plan, which is investing $35 million to get more people fishing, more often.
